The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received the President of the Pan-African Parliament, H.E. Dr. Fateh Boutbig, and members of the Parliament’s Bureau in Addis Ababa.
The Chairperson welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to work closely with the Pan-African Parliament in advancing continental priorities. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two institutions to support the effective implementation of Agenda 2063 and advance Africa’s integration, development and unity objectives.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on enhancing institutional collaboration and reinforcing complementarity among African Union organs and institutions. The discussions also focused on strengthening collective African action and responding more effectively to the aspirations of African peoples.
H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf reaffirmed the Commission’s support for the Pan-African Parliament in fulfilling its mandate and contributing to Africa’s integration and development agenda.
The meeting forms part of the Pan-African Parliament’s efforts to deepen cooperation with the various organs and institutions of the African Union, reinforce its role as the voice of Africa’s peoples, and contribute actively to advancing the continent’s priorities and aspirations.
