The European Union proudly celebrated this remarkable achievement by organising a Pre-Departure Networking Event for the scholarship recipients, marking the beginning of their exciting Erasmus Mundus journey.
Ethiopia consistently ranks among the leading African countries in securing Erasmus Mundus scholarships. Since 2010, more than 600 Ethiopian students have received fully funded Erasmus scholarships to pursue Master’s degrees at leading European universities. For the 2025–2026 academic year, 55 Ethiopian students were awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships to study in university consortia across 12 European countries. This outstanding accomplishment reflects the talent, determination, and academic excellence of Ethiopian students, while also demonstrating the strong and growing partnership between Ethiopia and the European Union in higher education, youth empowerment, and international cooperation.
Held at the EU Delegation Office in Addis Ababa on 28 July 2026, the Pre-Departure Networking Event brought together the scholarship recipients with EU Deputy HoM Agnieszka Karpinska and representatives of EU Member State Embassies. Students received practical guidance on travel arrangements, visa procedures, studying and living in Europe, and adapting to their new academic environment. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow Erasmus Mundus scholars, exchange experiences, and begin building lasting networks before embarking on their studies.
EU extend its warmest congratulations to all the scholarship recipients and wish them every success as they represent Ethiopia on the global academic stage.
